Butoh Dance
Butoh Dance Class with Jerry Gardner. Butoh is a dance-based performance
art that originated in Japan in the later part of the 1950's and has since
become an international art form. Butoh focuses on the presentation of
the body and it's movement as the means to reveal abstract or interpretive
images that arise from within. Butoh does not necessarily try to tell
a literal story, but rather creates surrealistic and dream-like images
that sink into the audience's psyche, thus connecting the performer and
observer. No experience necessary. Physical stamina and willingness to
take emotional risks is recommended. Classes/workshops are taught at various times. More information is available at www.rakanbutoh.com.
